Jérôme Louis Heldring

Jérôme Louis Heldring (born 21 December 1917) was from 1968-1972 editor in chief of the Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant (NRC), one of the forerunners of NRC Handelsblad, a Dutch daily newspaper. He is one of the most influential political commentators in the Netherlands. Since 1953 Heldring writes columns in NRC Handelsblad (or the NRC), and since 1960 his column is called Dezer Dagen ("Our Days"). His intellectual position is conservative[1] and he is always concerned with the history of civilization; his intellectual outlook is skeptical, detached, precise.
